Dumji Festival is one of those incredible festivals celebrated in the Everest region of the serene and exquisite country, Nepal. Dumji festival is celebrated in the honor of the anniversary of Guru Rinpoche’s birth on the lotus flower. The Dumji festival which is observed in July every year welcomes all the Sherpa from Kathmandu to the Helambu regions.
The entire trek will be a spiritual bliss to the adventurers and will leave everyone overwhelmed with the sheer blessing of the festival. The first few days are spent trekking towards Namche Bazaar at 3440m. After reaching Tengboche at 3860m from Namche Bazaar, the must-see Dumji festival is observed. The Dumji festival which was first founded and celebrated in Pangboche by Lama Sangwa Dorji around 360 years ago has traced its steps towards bringing together the monastic community ever since. The food and drinks for the celebration which lasts 4 days must be provided by three families on whom the responsibility falls every 13 years. The final few days will be spent trekking from the tranquil Tengboche to Namche to Lukla and then finally a flight back towards Kathmandu.
